Viktoria & Woods – Pacific Fair

Marrying Viktoria & Woods’ visual identity with qualities of the local coastline, the Pacific Fair boutique creates a calm and refined retail experience, combining neutral tones, soft textures and crafted details. At the store’s centre, a pair of nested display tables by Melbourne furniture designer, Zachery Frankel, offers a playful pairing of textures – smooth and dimpled – united by their soft, buttery yellow tone.

Beyond, a blockish counter clad in beige quartzite stone pays homage to the store’s beachside positioning, its compact, stepped form bringing intimacy to the store’s simple, rectilinear footprint. Weighty shelving alcoves divide the expansive perimeter walls, contrasted by offset mirrors and fine, brushed nickel garment rails, which draw movement to the fitting rooms beyond. An inset stone threshold accentuates this transition, while linen curtains, bespoke wall lights and a sustainably harvested tencel rug lends warmth and comfort.

Throughout, the boutique is enlivened by works from local makers and artisans: a vintage chair supplied by Sydney designer and collector Tamsin Johnson, hand-carved door pulls by Zachery Frankel, custom tabouret stools by Melbourne designer Rachel Donath, vessels by Brisbane-based ceramicist Jess Sellinger, hand-sculpted lamps by Melbourne creative Sarah Nedovic and paintings by Melbourne artist Ksenia Shinkarenko – each overlaying place-specific inflections.
