Viktoria & Woods – Rundle Street
Woven around sculptural touchpoints, this tranquil boutique – the label’s first in South Australia – transforms two adjacent retail tenancies into a captivating expression of the Viktoria & Woods brand. On arrival, nested display tables, finished in Marmorino render, rest on an ivory-toned, silk rug. Their subtle curvature is balanced by quaint ‘milking stools’ designed by Melbourne furniture designer, Zachery Frankel, using naturally fallen elm sourced from Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens.
Beyond, a stone-clad sales counter is sleeved around an existing structural column, offering a unique interplay of texture and form. The stone’s figured movement and muted green inflections recall the verdant gardens surrounding Adelaide city, further enhanced by deep green accents in the store’s artworks and tiled table bases. A series of timber tables and stools, hand carved by Zachery Frankel, craft unique, pitted backdrops to display footwear, feature garments and accessories – tactile moments which are playfully contrasted by the minimalist expression of modular clothing rails, suspended mirrors and floating, underlit shelves.
To the rear, a curved garment rail and vintage armchair sit in sculptural dialogue, presenting a welcoming lounge area for customers to dwell. The store’s original, honed concrete floors extend through to the fitting rooms, where bespoke lighting, hand turned timber stools and linen curtains imbue a feeling of calmness and seclusion. Beyond, a dedicated styling suite celebrates Viktoria & Woods’ tailored approach to customer service – a private, sophisticated setting that extends the store experience as a personalised and memorable encounter.
